Tamiya T3-01 Dual Rider Rally Build

Ever since the T3-01 trike has been released, I've had this crazy notion to build something different with it - something fun, exciting and out-of-the-box.

That being said, I'll be taking our new 57407 Dual Rider T3-01 Trike, adding a slew of our new option parts and giving it a very different look. Here's what's on the bench at the moment to start the build:

Since this project is starting from the ground up, there's a good chance the parts list will change. I'll have a final parts list at the end of the build but, for now, this is what I'm going with.

Tamiya TT-02RR Manual Addendum

There has been a correction to the Tamiya TT-02 RR instruction manual. Some of you brought up the problem where the suspension balls on the new adjustable camber links were falling out. Tamiya Inc. has discovered the manual had people installing the balls in the wrong direction.

TCS Race at Revelation Raceway - Rain Re-Schedule

Due to the high likelihood of rain on Saturday March 2nd and 3rd, Revelation Raceway and Tamiya America think it’s best to re-schedule the event to Saturday April 6th.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we want to ensure that Revelation Raceway have the most fun and successful inaugural TCS regional race possible. We look forward to a dry and fun event on April 6th!!

TCS Race #246 Results - 180 Raceway - Middle River MD

180 Raceway was the host to TCS Regional Race #246. Located in Middle River MD, this indoor carpet track saw 98 entries pack the place for some serious rugtop racing!

All the main TCS classes were full; F1, M-Chassis, TCS Spec, GT-1, GT-2 and Pro-Spec. Euro Truck, however, was by the far the popular class, having 30 drivers to form an A-, B- and C-Main!

TCS Race #245 Concours Winners - Hobbytown USA/Hobbyplex - Omaha NE

One of the best parts about the TCS series is the Concours event. Drivers take a lot of pride in the detail work on their rides, so much so that it sometimes makes it impossible to choose a winner. TCS Race #245 Results - Hobbytown USA/Hobbyplex - Omaha NE

The second round of the TCS Regionals has concluded at the beautiful Hobbytown USA Hobbyplex raceway in Omaha NE. With over 107 entries, driver's not only had a chance to run on the beautiful black-carpet track, they also had a preview of what the 2019 TCS Nationals will be like.

That's right, August 22-25 will see drivers from around the US converge at the Hobbyplex for the 2019 TCS Nats.

But, for now, let's take a look at who the top contenders might be!

Friday - 2/15/2019 at DXN Provisions - Two Make Gentleman's Race

Which gentleman (or lady) will win the favor of our Lady Dixi? This Friday’s Two Make Gentleman’s Race will pit two cars against each other in a duel for the attention of our Lady Dixi. Will it be the incumbent Baron Viento or the newcomer Lord Guile? Come by Friday and race to find out!

This Friday night’s race starts at 8pm. Come by beforehand to pick up your kit’s body if you wish to paint it ahead of time. Choose between Lord Guile and Baron Viento, both are FMA Chassis cars so the competition should be fierce!

We will race everyone for themselves and possibly have a team race if the numbers of Barons vs Lords are evenly split.

TCS Race #244 Results - RC Car World - Willingboro NJ

The first TCS race of the 2019 Season kicked off at RC Car Worlds in Willingboro, NJ. Over 30 drivers were in attendance to fight for the top spot in the Euro Truck, Mini, F1, GT-1, GT-2, GT Pro Spec and GT Novice classes.

The battles were tight but, as usual, everyone had a fantastic time!

2019 Nuremberg Toy Fair

Mini 4WD Race at Pacific Coast Hobbies - 2/3/2019

This Sunday, Feb 3rd, (actually - every Sunday) Pacific Coast Hobbies will be holding a Mini 4WD race in their parking lot!

Track open at 11am, first race starts at pm.

If you don't have a Mini 4WD but have been wanting to try it, this is a perfect time! Mini 4WD range anywhere from $12-$20 and take about an hour to build - head on down, pick one up, drop in a pair of AA batteries and you're ready to race!

Sprue Fest 2019 Photo Gallery

Sprue Fest 2019 has come and gone - and what an amazing event!

Held at Brookhurst Hobbies, one of SoCal's premiere model hobby shops, the word on the street was that the attendance was going to be over the top! With Tamiya America being a main sponsor, we were able to help spread the word about this event and found the participation in the model contest to be overwhelming - 120 modelers showed up to enter their best work into the contest. A whopping 551 total entries were submitted, keeping the judges extremely busy the whole time.

In addition to the model contest, Tamiya America also had a nice display up with new kit releases, accessories, tools, paints and other finishing supplies. There was also a 3-lane Mini 4WD track on site with demos for people to check out.

Sprue Fest 2019

Sprue Fest 2019 is coming January 19, 2019! What is Sprue Fest you ask? Spruefest is a model building contest put on by Brookhurst Hobbies, which is one of Southern California’s premiere model hobby shops.

Tamiya America is sponsoring the event. We will be on hand displaying new model kit releases, accessories, tools, paints and finishing supplies. We will also be putting on demonstrations on some of our handy tools and accessories. A Tamiya Mini 4WD 3-lane race track will be on site. There will be demonstrations on the world of Mini 4WD. Mini 4WD racing is a huge activity for kids and adults across Japan and most of Asia and its once again gaining popularity in the USA, thanks in part to the support of local hobby shops and their racing programs. Along with that, Sprue Fest has added a Mini 4WD best model contest to the eligible model categories in which participants may compete in. The rules are simple. Pick any Tamiya Mini 4WD car, then paint and detail the body to your most creative whim!

Spreading Joy for the Holidays

Lisa Smith and her husband Brian Smith take the time each year to deliver donated goods and toys to the Veterans in their hometown of Elmira, New York. What started as a motorcycle ride for the Veterans on D-Day turned into visiting the VA house to give back to those who served. Lisa's Father and Sister served, so the cause has a special meaning for the Smith family and they hope to continue this tradition as our Veterans have done so much for our Country. This is the second year Tamiya has teamed up with the Smiths to donate plastic models to the Veterans.

Tamiya FAIR and Radio Control World Championships Video!

The Tamiya Radio Control World Championships are held at Shizuoka City, Japan every year. It is held in conjunction with the Tamiya FAIR, which is an open to the public event, where people of all ages can experience the whole world of Tamiya. This world includes scale model products, R/C tank battles, Mini 4WD racing, Educational kit construction, crafts, and a glimpse into the inner workings of one of the largest hobby companies on the planet. Tamiya America, Inc. staff, along with the 3 three Tamiya Championship Series 2018 “Ticket to Japan” winners, got to experience Japan, compete at the World Championships, and had a lot of fun during the whole journey!

Tamiya Annual Inventory
The warehouse for Tamiya America, Inc. will be closed for its annual inventory on December 29th thru January 9th. Our online store will be offline beginning December 18th. All orders placed by December 18, 4:00pm (PST) will be shipped by December 28th. There will be no shipping during the dates of December 29th thru January 9th. We will accept new orders and begin shipping on January 9th 2019. In the event we are able to complete our inventory cycle early we will re-open our online store and begin processing orders.

The 58th All Japan Model & Hobby Show 2018 Venue Express Report!
